Hello! My name is Paul and I live in Lancaster County. I grew up on a farm where we raised beef, dairy, pigs and poultry. There I developed an appreciation for wholesome food and the local community.
I also love motorcycling. I love touring around bucolic Lancaster with my Suzuki Burgman 200 scooter (Big Burgtha). It’s not fast, but a slower way of life is what Lancaster is about. It allows me to explore the back roads and appreciate the scenery, the agrarian way of life, the people, and the food. On these excursions I am amazed at how many roadside farm stands there were offering local, fresh, nutrient dense and delicious food.
Our society is becoming increasingly health conscious. Much of this, I believe, has to do with the failure of the modern food industry to produce good nutritious food. This has led to a lower quality of life and higher medical costs for millions of us.
The average human body is made up of approximately 30 to 40 trillion cells. You have heard the saying “you are what you eat.” Sure, it’s become a cliche, but it is still, quite literally, true. Each one of your trillions of cells consists of the food molecules that you consumed and digested. Quite simply, when you consume high quality, nutrient dense, clean, and delicious food you are providing the ingredients to make healthy cells, which make a healthy body.
There is a second alarming societal concern – the vanishing family farm. Pennsylvania has experienced a depressing decline in the number of small farms, driven by retirements, low profitability, and a shift towards larger operations. We lose about a 1,000 farms a year and nearly all new farms are large operations.
The purpose of this site is to help you find local, wholesome, and delicious food, while also helping local farmers in our community prosper.
This site is a work in progress and if you have any recommendations or updates to a farm stand, please feel free to let me know.
